New Holland TRANS 2359 – Transmission Control Module (TRANS / TCU): High Clutch Solenoid (or High Range Clutch Solenoid) is shorted to +12 Volts
Issue description
Current is being sensed while the driver circuit is commanded off. The transmission controller is detecting an over-voltage or a short-to-power condition in the circuit that controls the high range clutch, meaning the solenoid is receiving power when it shouldn't be.

Check the cause
Check Solenoid Resistance: Disconnect the electrical connector at the High Range Clutch Solenoid and measure the resistance across the solenoid coil pins. It should be between 8 and 11 Ohms. If outside this range, the solenoid is internally shorted or faulty.
Check for Short to Power (+12V): If the solenoid tests okay, disconnect the CCU/Transmission controller connectors and turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Measure Voltage: Probe the signal wire for the high clutch solenoid at the harness connector to ground. If you read +12 Volts, the wiring harness is shorted to a power source. Inspect the harness for melted insulation or chafing.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Locate the Solenoid
Locate the transmission powershift valve manifold (usually located on the side or top of the transmission housing). Identify the High Range Clutch Solenoid on the block.
Remove the Faulty Solenoid
Disconnect the wiring harness from the solenoid. Remove the retaining hardware holding the solenoid in the valve block and carefully extract the solenoid cartridge.
Install the New Solenoid
Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean transmission fluid. Insert it into the manifold and torque the retaining hardware to OEM specifications.
Reconnect
Reconnect the electrical harness to the solenoid and reconnect the battery.
Clear Codes and Calibrate
Use a diagnostic tool or the tractor's onboard display to clear the TRANS 2359 fault code. Crucial Step: You must perform a transmission clutch calibration procedure after replacing a clutch solenoid. Failure to do so will likely result in a secondary fault code (e.g., TRANS 2369: High range clutch not calibrated).
