New Holland TRANS 2361 – Transmission Control Unit (TRANS / TCU): The creeper clutch solenoid is shorted to +12 Volts, current sensed while the driver is off.

The transmission controller is detecting electrical current flowing through the creeper clutch solenoid circuit even when the controller is not actively commanding the solenoid to turn on, indicating a short circuit to a power source (+12V) in the wiring harness, an internal short within the solenoid coil, or a failed driver inside the control module.

   Perform a harness isolation test: Disconnect the electrical connector at the creeper clutch solenoid, turn the key ON (engine off), and check the voltage on the signal wire. If +12V is present, the wiring harness is shorted to power.

   Inspect the wiring harness: Trace the wiring from the transmission control valve block back to the Transmission ECM. Look for chafed insulation, pinched wires, or melted harnesses.

   Test the solenoid coil: Measure the resistance (Ohms) across the pins of the creeper clutch solenoid. If resistance is near zero, the coil is internally shorted.

   Check ECM pins: Inspect the connectors at the Transmission ECM for water intrusion, corrosion, or bent pins bridging connections (indicates a potential failed internal driver).

   Disconnect Power

   Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent accidental shorting during the repair.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the transmission control valve block (typically mounted on the side of the transmission housing) and identify the specific solenoid designated for the creeper clutch.

   Remove the Faulty Component

   If the fault is in the wiring, splice and repair the shorted section using weather-sealed heat shrink connectors, or replace the affected harness section. If the solenoid is faulty, disconnect its electrical plug, remove the retaining nut or bolt holding the solenoid coil to the valve cartridge, and slide the coil off (or unthread and replace the entire cartridge valve).

   Install the New Part

   Slide the new solenoid coil onto the valve stem and secure it, or thread in the new valve assembly. Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Reassemble and Power Up

   Reconnect the battery.

   Clear Codes and Calibrate

   Use the tractor's onboard diagnostic menu or an electronic service tool to clear the TRANS 2361 fault code, and perform a transmission clutch calibration (specifically for the creeper clutch) before returning the tractor to service.
