TRANS 2364

New Holland TRANS 2364 – Transmission Control Unit (TCU / TRANS): Even Clutch not calibrated

Issue description

This code indicates that the transmission controller has not successfully learned the fill time and engagement 'kiss point' (measured in milliamperes) for the Even gear clutch pack. This condition often occurs after a new controller is installed, after transmission repairs, or if a previous calibration attempt was aborted or failed.

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T6 Series (e.g., T6.120)
  • New Holland T7 Series (e.g., T7.210, T7030)
  • New Holland T8 Series
  • New Holland TM Series
  • New Holland T5060

Check the cause

  1. Check transmission oil temperature (must be between 60 and 80 degrees Celsius)

  2. Check for active electrical faults or solenoid circuit codes (e.g., TRANS 104 or TRANS 2353) and repair before calibration

  3. Ensure the tractor is parked on a level surface with the handbrake firmly engaged

  4. Ensure the air conditioning is turned off to prevent engine RPM fluctuations during calibration

Repair steps

  1. Warm Up

Drive the tractor until the transmission oil temperature reaches at least 60°C.

  2. Enter Calibration Mode

With the engine off, the handbrake applied, and the shuttle lever in Neutral, press and hold both the upshift (bunny) and downshift (turtle) buttons simultaneously, then start the engine.

  3. Verify Temperature

The display will show the transmission oil temperature. If it is high enough, proceed.

  4. Set RPM

Use the hand throttle to set the engine speed to exactly 1200 +/- 50 RPM.

  5. Engage Shuttle

Move the shuttle lever into the Forward position. The display will indicate the first clutch to be calibrated (e.g., 'Even', 'Odd', 'C1', or 'A').

  6. Calibrate the Clutch

Press and hold the downshift (turtle) button. You will hear the engine RPM drop slightly as the controller engages the clutch and learns the calibration values.

  7. Wait for Completion

Keep the button depressed until the display shows 'End' or the calibration mA value alternates with the clutch identifier.

  8. Next Clutch

Release the downshift button. Press the upshift (bunny) button once to cycle to the next clutch pack.

  9. Repeat

Repeat steps 6 through 8 for all remaining clutches (Odd, Even, C1-C6, Range clutches, Master, etc., depending on the specific transmission).

  10. Save and Exit

Once all clutches are calibrated and the screen indicates the sequence is finished (often displaying 'CF' or 'syn'), turn the ignition key OFF. This saves the new calibration figures to the processor's non-volatile memory.
