TRANS 2366

New Holland TRANS 2366 – Transmission Control Unit (TCU): C3-4 Clutch not calibrated

Issue description

This code indicates that the transmission controller does not have a valid calibration value stored in its non-volatile memory for the C3-4 clutch pack. This condition typically occurs if a new transmission controller has been installed, if the module's memory was wiped/reset, or if a previous calibration procedure failed or was interrupted before completion.

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T8.320
  • New Holland T8.350
  • New Holland T8.380
  • New Holland T8.410
  • New Holland T7.220
  • New Holland T7.235
  • New Holland T7.250
  • New Holland T7030
  • New Holland T7040
  • New Holland T6.120

Check the cause

  1. Check transmission fluid temperature (must be between 60°C/140°F and 80°C/176°F).

  2. Check for active electrical faults for the C3-4 clutch solenoid (e.g., TRANS 106 or TRANS 2355).

  3. Check clutch pedal potentiometers and bottom-of-clutch switches for proper adjustment and absence of codes (e.g., 2037, 2047).

  4. Prepare the tractor by parking on level ground, applying the parking brake, and ensuring ground speed reads zero.

Repair steps

  1. Warm Up

Drive the tractor or run the hydraulics until the transmission oil temperature reaches at least 60°C (140°F).

  2. Enter Calibration Mode

With the tractor running, handbrake applied, and shuttle lever in neutral, enter the transmission calibration mode. On many models, this is done by holding the upshift and downshift buttons simultaneously while starting the tractor, or by accessing the H-menu on the instrument cluster.

  3. Set Engine Speed

Increase the engine RPM to the specified calibration speed, usually around 1200 RPM (+/- 50 RPM).

  4. Engage Shuttle

Move the shuttle lever into the FORWARD position.

  5. Select the Clutch

Use the upshift (bunny) button to cycle through the clutches until the C3-4 clutch is selected on the display.

  6. Calibrate

Press and hold the downshift (turtle) button. The engine RPM will automatically fluctuate (drop by about 50 RPM) as the controller learns the clutch kiss point and fill times.

  7. Complete

Keep the button depressed until the display shows 'End' or the calibration number alternates with the clutch identifying letter.

  8. Save and Exit

Release the button. You can either proceed to calibrate the remaining clutches or turn the key switch off to store the new calibration figures in the non-volatile memory.

Parts you might need

(4)
  • Transmission Control Module (TCM / ATC)

Required only if the module has failed and cannot retain memory.

  • C3-4 Clutch Solenoid / PWM Valve

Required if the solenoid is burnt out or mechanically sticking, preventing the clutch from filling properly.

  • Transmission Oil Temperature Sensor

Required if the sensor is reading out of range, preventing the tractor from entering calibration mode.

  • Transmission Fluid and Filter

Recommended if the fluid is degraded, which can cause erratic clutch fill times and failed calibrations.
