New Holland TRANS 2369 – Transmission Control Module (TCU) / ATC (Armrest/Transmission Controller): Mid Range Clutch not calibrated

The transmission control unit does not have a valid, stored calibration value for the mid-range clutch pack. This condition typically occurs when a new controller is installed on the tractor, the non-volatile memory has been wiped/reset, or the clutch pack has worn so far out of its previously calibrated parameters that the system can no longer safely modulate it.

   Check Transmission Oil Temperature: The transmission oil must be warm (typically around 60°C) for the calibration procedure to initiate.

   Check for Related Solenoid Faults: Ensure there are no active electrical faults for the clutch solenoids (e.g., TRANS 111, 112, or F1U/F2U codes indicating a mid-range clutch open or short to ground).

   Check Clutch Pedal Switches: Verify that the bottom of the clutch pedal switch and potentiometers are properly adjusted and not shorted.

   Assess Mechanical Symptoms: If the tractor has been slipping under heavy loads, jerking, or emitting a strong burnt smell, the clutch pack friction plates may be physically destroyed.

   Warm Up the Tractor

   Drive the tractor until the transmission oil is up to operating temperature.

   Prepare for Calibration

   Park on level ground. Turn the ignition OFF, apply the handbrake, and place the gear lever in neutral.

   Enter Calibration Mode (H-Menu)

   Press and hold both the upshift and downshift buttons on the gear lever while starting the tractor. The display should show 'CAL' or enter the 'H' diagnostic menu (specifically H1 or H3 for clutch calibration).

   Set Engine Speed

   Use the hand throttle to set the engine RPM to approximately 1200 +/- 50 RPM.

   Engage Forward

   Place the shuttle lever into the FORWARD position.

   Calibrate the Clutches

   Press the upshift (or 'bunny') button to select the first clutch (e.g., Clutch A or C1). Press and hold the downshift (or 'turtle') button to begin calibrating that specific clutch. Keep the button depressed until the calibration number stabilizes and alternates with the clutch identifying letter, or the screen displays 'END'.

   Repeat for All Clutches

   Release the downshift button, press the upshift button to move to the next clutch (B, C, D, E, F / Mid-Range, etc.), and repeat the holding process until all clutch packs and synchronizers are calibrated.

   Save and Exit

   Once all clutches are calibrated (the display may show 'CF' or 'syn'), turn the key switch to the OFF position. This stores the new calibration figures into the module's non-volatile memory.
