New Holland TRANS 2805 – Transmission Control Module (TCU): System pressure valve solenoid circuit is open circuit or shorted to ground

The system pressure valve solenoid regulates main hydraulic pressure to the transmission clutch packs. The control module has detected an electrical fault (open circuit or shorted to ground) in this circuit, which may cause hard shifts, delayed engagement, or a complete loss of drive.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the system pressure solenoid for chafing, pinched wires, or melted insulation.

   Disconnect the solenoid pigtail and check for hydraulic fluid intrusion, bent pins, or corrosion inside the connector.

   Perform a multimeter resistance test across the solenoid pins. A reading of OL indicates an internal open; near 0 ohms to the housing indicates a short to ground.

   With the key OFF and TCU disconnected, check harness continuity from the TCU connector to the solenoid connector to rule out a broken wire.

   Preparation

   Park the machine on a level surface, engage the parking brake, lower all implements, and turn off the engine. Relieve any residual hydraulic pressure if required by your specific model's manual.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Access the transmission control valve assembly. You may need to remove protective shielding or step panels depending on the tractor model.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the area around the valve body with brake parts cleaner to prevent dirt from entering the sensitive hydraulic system when the valve is removed.

   Removal

   Disconnect the electrical connector. Using the appropriate wrench, remove the retaining screws or mounting nut holding the solenoid in place. Carefully pull the solenoid cartridge out of the valve body.

   Installation

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean transmission/hydraulic fluid. Carefully slide the new solenoid into the valve body bore, ensuring the O-rings do not pinch or tear.

   Torque

   Install the retaining hardware and tighten to the OEM torque specification.

   Reassembly & Calibration

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Top off the transmission fluid if any was lost. Use a diagnostic tool (such as CNH EST or Jaltest) to clear the TRANS 2805 fault code. You may need to perform a transmission clutch calibration procedure after replacing a main pressure solenoid to ensure smooth shifting.
