New Holland TRANS 2807 – Transmission Control Module (TCU / Trans): Transmission output rpm over speed.
Issue description
The transmission controller detects that the transmission output shaft RPM is excessively high for the currently commanded gear. This can be caused by a genuine overspeed event (e.g., coasting downhill with a heavy load), an erratic or failing transmission output speed sensor, or an incorrect tire radius calibration causing the system to miscalculate the speed.
Applies to these machines
14 machines- T8.275
- T8.300

- TSA series
- Magnum 235-340 (Series 4)
- Maxxum
- Farmall series
Check the cause
Verify Tire Calibration: Check the instrument cluster/dash settings to ensure the correct tire radius is programmed. An incorrect radius causes the system to miscalculate speed.
Wiring and Connector Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness and the connector at the transmission output speed sensor for corrosion, moisture, or backed-out pins.
Sensor Signal Comparison: If the machine utilizes dual transmission output speed sensors, check if one sensor is dropping out or providing an erratic/intermittent signal below the minimum threshold.
Repair steps
Locate the Sensor
The transmission output speed sensor is typically a magnetic pickup sensor threaded directly into the transmission housing or the output drop box.
Disconnect the Battery
Always turn off the machine and disconnect battery power before servicing transmission electronics.
Remove the Sensor
Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the sensor. Unthread the faulty speed sensor from the transmission housing.
Prep the Port
Clean the mounting threads on the transmission housing to prevent debris from entering the transmission fluid.
Install the New Sensor
Apply a small amount of approved thread sealant to the threads of the new sensor (if not pre-applied or specified by your specific model's service manual) and thread it into the housing.
Reconnect
Plug the wiring harness back into the sensor, ensuring the weather-tight seal clicks into place.
Clear Codes and Test
Reconnect the battery, clear the TRANS 2807 error code using a diagnostic tool or the onboard display, and test drive the tractor to ensure normal operation and that the code does not return.
