The controller monitoring the transmission is no longer receiving expected CAN bus data signals from the module located in the operator's armrest, which handles operator inputs (like throttle, shifting, and hydraulic controls).

   Check for associated Armrest Control Module (ACM) or CAN bus error codes using the machine display or diagnostic tool. Note them, clear them, and test to see if the fault returns.

   Inspect all connectors at the Tractor Control Unit (TCU) and the Armrest Control Module (ACM). Ensure they are fully seated, undamaged, pins are correctly positioned, and the fit is tight.

   Test the CAN bus communication lines between the TCU and the ACM using a multimeter or back-probe for continuity, high resistance, or shorts to ground/power.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks reveal damaged wiring, broken pins, or corroded connectors between the TCU and the ACM, repair or replace the affected harness sections.

   Replace the ACM

   If the wiring harness and connectors are in good condition and CAN bus continuity is verified, the Armrest Control Module (ACM) itself has likely suffered an internal failure and must be replaced.

   Reassemble and Calibrate

   Install the new ACM. Reconnect the battery.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Connect a diagnostic tool (such as the CNH EST tool) to clear the TRANS 2818 fault code. Perform a functional test of the armrest controls to verify that communication has been restored and the machine operates normally.
