New Holland TRANS 2901 – Transmission Control Module (TCU / TRANS): Signal received from the torque sensor is not in any fault range or normal range tolerance (CCH Only).
Issue description
The control unit is receiving an erratic, implausible, or out-of-bounds signal from the drivetrain torque sensor. The signal does not fit the predefined parameters for normal operation, nor does it match a standard electrical fault.

Check the cause
Check sensor gap and mounting to ensure the sensor is physically mounted correctly and hasn't backed out of the transmission housing.
Verify supply voltage using a multimeter to ensure the sensor is receiving a steady 5V reference signal from the ECU.
Inspect the 3-pin female electrical connector and wiring at the sensor for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or wire chafing.
Repair steps
Power down and disconnect battery
Power down the tractor, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
Locate torque sensor
Locate the torque sensor on the transmission housing (often located near the hydraulic pump drive gear or PTO torque sensing area).
Disconnect electrical connector
Disconnect the 3-pin electrical connector from the torque sensor.
Remove faulty sensor
Remove the retaining hardware and carefully extract the faulty torque sensor from the housing.
Install new sensor
Install the new OEM torque sensor, ensuring it is seated completely flush to maintain the strict sensor gap tolerance required by the ECU.
Reconnect harness
Reconnect the 3-pin electrical harness.
Restore power and clear code
Restore battery power, clear the TRANS 2901 fault code using a diagnostic tool, and run the machine to verify that the ECU is receiving a stable torque signal under load.
