New Holland TRANS 51 – Transmission Controller (TRANS): FNRP pod indicates Forward or Reverse is on, when Park is on
Issue description
An illogical state fault generated if the Park switch indicates the tractor is in Park, but either the Forward or Reverse switch is simultaneously in the 'ON' position. Possible causes include internal failure of the transmission control FNRP pod/switch module, a wiring harness problem, or transmission controller failure.

Check the cause
Check for operator error: ensure the operator is not holding the shuttle lever up for too long or resting their hand on it, causing simultaneous inputs.
Verify the shuttle position display on the instrumentation cluster by shifting through Forward, Neutral, Reverse, and Park to see what state the controller is reading.
Inspect the wiring harness from the FNRP pod to the transmission controller for rubbed wires, pinched harnesses in the steering column/armrest, or loose connector pins.
Test the FNRP switch output pins (Pin 4: Not Park, Pin 5: Reverse, Pin 6: Forward) to verify voltage is not bleeding across pins when the lever is in the Park position.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Access the FNRP Pod
Remove the plastic covers on the steering column or the right-hand armrest console (depending on the specific model's configuration) to expose the FNRP switch assembly.
Inspect and Clean Connectors
Disconnect the multi-pin sealed connector plug socket at the FNRP pod. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and check for corrosion or bent pins. Reconnect and test; if the code persists, proceed to the next step.
Replace the FNRP Pod/Switch
If the wiring tests good but the illogical state remains, the internal contacts of the FNRP pod have failed. Unbolt the faulty FNRP switch assembly and install the new OEM replacement part.
Reassemble and Clear Codes
Reinstall the column/armrest covers, reconnect the battery, and use the diagnostic display or a service tool to clear the TRANS 51 fault code.
Operational Test
Start the tractor and cycle through Park, Forward, Neutral, and Reverse to ensure the transmission engages properly and the code does not return.
