New Holland TRANS 64 – Transmission Control Module (TECM): Transmission output Sped is too high (above 8200 RPM)

The control module is receiving an erratic, intermittent, or incorrect frequency signal from the transmission output speed sensor.

   Connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the tractor, navigate to the monitor screen, and select the change parameter selections icon

   Monitor live data by selecting 'inst ground speed - wheel' (MPH/KPH) and 'inst trans output speed' (RPM)

   Evaluate the signal by observing the RPM reading while the tractor is stationary and moving. Spikes to 8200+ RPM or erratic dropouts indicate a sensor or wiring fault

   Inspect the transmission output speed sensor wiring harness, specifically the 4-way electrical connector and the LU 0.8 TXL wires routed to the TECM, for open circuits or shorts to ground/power

   Safely park the machine on level ground, turn off the engine, and engage the parking brake.

   Locate the transmission output speed sensor on the transmission housing.

   Disconnect the 4-way electrical connector from the sensor.

   Remove the retaining hardware securing the sensor to the transmission housing and pull the sensor out.

   Discard the old sensor and its sealing O-ring.

   Lubricate the new 1.4mm ID seal and install it onto the new transmission output speed sensor.

   Insert the new sensor into the transmission port and secure it with the retaining hardware.

   Reconnect the electrical harness connector.

   Reconnect the diagnostic service tool to clear the TRANS 64 fault code and perform a test drive while monitoring the 'inst trans output speed' to ensure the RPM reads accurately.
