TRANS 65

New Holland TRANS 65 – TRANS: Operator attempted a shuttle operation while out of the seat.

Issue description

This is a safety interlock fault. The system detected that a directional shuttle command (Forward or Reverse) was initiated, but the operator presence sensor (seat switch) indicated that the seat was empty. To prevent runaway equipment or accidents, the system locks out the transmission movement.

Applies to these machines

  • T6 series
  • T7 series
  • T8 series
  • T9 series
  • TG series
  • TG215
  • TM series
  • TC compact utility tractors
  • CR series
  • CR8090
  • CR9090
  • CX series
  • FR series
  • L-series
  • C-series

Check the cause

  1. Verify operator behavior to ensure the operator is not lifting their weight off the seat while shifting the shuttle lever

  2. Inspect the seat switch for physical damage, packed dirt, or debris that might prevent the switch from fully depressing

  3. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the seat switch for chafed wires, pinched harnesses in the seat suspension, or loose/corroded connectors

  4. Perform a continuity test on the seat switch using a multimeter. The normally open (NO) switch should show continuity when weight is applied and open when weight is removed

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the machine, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts or accidental system engagement.

  2. Locate the Switch

Tilt the seat forward or access the bottom of the seat suspension frame to locate the operator presence switch.

  3. Disconnect Wiring

Unplug the electrical pigtail connector from the faulty seat switch.

  4. Remove the Switch

Unclip, twist, or unbolt the faulty switch from its mounting bracket on the seat base.

  5. Install the New Part

Snap or bolt the new OEM seat switch into the exact position of the old one.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the wiring harness connector into the new switch.

  7. Test Operation

Reconnect the battery. Sit in the seat, start the tractor, and attempt a shuttle operation to confirm the TRANS 65 code is cleared and the transmission engages. Stand up (in a safe, controlled manner) to verify the safety interlock successfully stops the machine.
