New Holland TRANS 66 – Transmission Controller (TRANS): FNRP (Forward/Neutral/Reverse/Park) Pod Forward switch is shorted to ground or has an open circuit

The fault is triggered when the transmission controller detects that the Forward signal voltage from the FNRP potentiometer is too low.

   Turn the ignition key to the 'ON' position and watch the shuttle position display on the instrument cluster

   Move the transmission control (FNRP) lever through its positions. If the 'Forward' icon remains lit on the display when the lever is physically in Park or Neutral, it indicates the Forward switch has failed closed or there is a wiring issue

   Inspect the wiring harness running directly from the transmission control (FNRP) pod to the transmission controller for any visible breaks, chafing, or shorts to ground

   Access the FNRP pod

   Typically located on the right-hand console or armrest control lever.

   Test wiring continuity

   Disconnect the wiring harness from the FNRP pod and use a multimeter to test the continuity of the wires running to the transmission controller to rule out an open circuit or a short to ground in the harness.

   Identify faulty component

   If the wiring harness tests good, the fault lies within the transmission control (FNRP) potentiometer itself.

   Remove faulty assembly

   Remove the faulty FNRP pod/joystick assembly.

   Install replacement

   Install the replacement FNRP pod or control lever.

   Verify repair

   Reconnect the wiring harness, turn the key to 'ON', and verify that the instrument cluster correctly displays Forward, Neutral, Reverse, and Park as you move the lever.
