UCM 1212

New Holland UCM 1212 – UCM (Universal Control Module): Calibration Functions - Ground Drive Calibration Not Complete

Issue description

This fault code indicates that the semi-automatic ground drive calibration procedure has not been successfully completed. The ground drive calibration is required to calibrate the command current to a nominal pressure and to establish the neutral position of the ground drive swashplate angles.

Check the cause

  1. Check for excessive machine movement (more than 1 foot) during calibration, which indicates a mechanical issue like a hydrostatic pump or drive motor failure rather than an electrical fault

  2. Verify that the UCM software is up to date and compatible with the instrument cluster software

  3. Ensure the machine is parked on flat, level ground with no obstacles nearby before attempting the calibration

Repair steps

  1. Park the machine

Park the machine on a flat, level surface and ensure the area is clear of bystanders and obstacles.

  2. Access calibration menu

Access the calibration menu via the instrument cluster display screen.

  3. Select calibration function

Select the "Ground Drive Calibration" function.

  4. Follow prompts

Follow the on-screen prompts. The procedure is semi-automatic; the UCM will automatically stroke the pumps to find the neutral swashplate angles and nominal pressure command currents.

  5. Monitor for movement

Monitor the machine for movement. If the machine moves more than 1 foot, abort the calibration and mechanically inspect the hydrostatic drive pumps and drive motors for internal wear or failure.

  6. Verify calibration completion

If the calibration completes successfully, the fault code will clear.

  7. Replace UCM

If the calibration repeatedly fails without mechanical symptoms, or if the UCM is unresponsive/internally faulted, the UCM must be replaced and flashed with the latest software using the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST).
