New Holland UCM 1908 – UCM (Universal Control Module): Power Supply: Rail 12VF2 - Bucket Extend Input Power OFF

Issue description

The 12-volt power supply rail (specifically designated as 12VF2) responsible for providing power to the "Bucket Extend" input circuit has been disconnected, interrupted, or shut off due to a fault. This is typically caused by an open circuit, a wiring harness failure, a blown fuse, or an internal failure within the control module itself.

Check the cause

  1. Verify overall battery voltage and engage the battery disconnect switch (if equipped) before touching the module.

  2. Check the main fuse box and EH control fuses to ensure the 12VF2 rail hasn't lost power due to a simple blown fuse or faulty relay.

  3. Visually inspect the chassis Electro-Hydraulic (EH) wire harness routing from the UCM to the bucket controls/solenoids for chafing, pinched wires, or rodent damage.

  4. Disconnect the UCM and inspect the pins for pushed-out pins, corrosion, or moisture ingress which could cause a loss of power.

  5. Use a multimeter to test the continuity of the Rail 12VF2 circuit between the UCM output pin and the bucket extend input, checking for shorts to ground or open circuits.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

    Turn the battery quick-disconnect switch to the OFF position and disconnect the negative battery cable.

  2. Access the UCM

    Locate the UCM (usually mounted with a supporting bracket near the cab/chassis junction).

  3. Repair Wiring

    If the diagnostic continuity test revealed a broken wire in the EH harness, repair the wire using OEM-approved weather-sealed connectors, or replace the affected harness section.

  4. Replace the UCM

    If the wiring harness, fuses, and inputs test perfectly fine, the UCM has likely suffered an internal failure on the 12VF2 rail. Unbolt the UCM bracket and install the replacement module.

  5. Flash the Module

    Use the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST) to flash the module with the correct software payload for your specific machine's PIN/Serial Number.

  6. Reassemble and Test

    Reconnect the battery, clear the stored UCM 1908 fault code, and operate the bucket extend function to verify the repair.
