New Holland UCM 1917 – UCM (Universal Control Module) / VCM (Vehicle Control Module): Power Supply: Rail 12VU2 - Park Brake Solenoid Input Power OFF
Issue description
This fault code indicates that the control module has detected a loss of input power on the 12VU2 power rail specifically dedicated to the park brake solenoid. This typically means there is an open circuit, a short to ground, or a failed solenoid coil. When this fault is active, the machine will likely be unable to release the parking brake, preventing movement.

Check the cause
Check the transmission/UCM controller fuse (e.g., Fuse 39 or F1) for a blown condition. If it blows immediately upon shifting out of Park, the solenoid is likely shorted.
Inspect the wiring harness and the 2-pin weather-pack connector leading to the park brake solenoid for frays, corrosion, or melted wires.
Test the park brake solenoid coil resistance using a multimeter. An open reading (infinite resistance) or a dead short indicates internal failure.
Verify plausibility using the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST) by checking the Park Brake Pressure Switch state against the Park Brake Solenoid output.
Repair steps
Secure the Machine
Park the machine on a level surface, lower any attachments to the ground, turn off the engine, and remove the key.
Locate the Solenoid
Locate the park brake solenoid. Depending on the machine, it will be located on the transmission tow block valve assembly or on the tandem drive pump.
Disconnect Electrical Power
Unplug the 2-pin electrical connector from the solenoid.
Remove the Solenoid
Remove the retaining nut holding the solenoid coil to the valve stem, or unscrew the entire cartridge valve assembly if replacing the whole block. Have a catch pan ready, as a small amount of hydraulic fluid may leak.
Install the New Part
Slide the new solenoid coil onto the valve stem (or thread in the new cartridge valve) and tighten to the torque specifications outlined in your specific model's service manual.
Reconnect and Clear
Reconnect the 2-pin electrical connector. Replace any blown fuses in the cab fuse panel.
Test
Start the machine and cycle the park brake switch. Verify that the UCM 1917 code has cleared and that the machine can successfully drive forward and backward without feeling restricted.
