New Holland UCM 4372 – UCM: Ground Drive: Solenoid Left (B) Supply Short to Ground
Issue description
The electrical supply circuit providing power to the left ground drive solenoid (B) has experienced a short circuit to the ground/chassis.
Applies to these machines
7 machines- L213
- L215
- L218
- L220
- L223
- L225
- C238
Check the cause
Turn off the machine and disconnect the negative battery cable before beginning electrical checks
Inspect the wiring harness connecting the UCM to the Ground Drive Solenoid Left (B) for any physical damage, chafing, or exposed wires causing a short to the chassis ground
Check the UCM power supply and fuses (such as F-026 UCM BATTERY FUSE and F-027 UCM 2SPD FUSE) to see if the short circuit has caused a related fuse to blow
Inspect the connectors (e.g., the solenoid to chassis connectors) for corrosion, moisture, or bent pins
Repair steps
Safely park the machine on level ground and turn off the engine.
Disconnect the negative battery cable or switch the battery disconnect to the "off" position.
This prevents electrical damage while working on the electro-hydraulic controls.
Locate the Left Ground Drive Solenoid (B) on the hydraulic drive system.
Disconnect the electrical connector at the solenoid.
Repair the shorted section of the wire or replace the affected harness segment.
Perform this if the diagnostic checks revealed a damaged wiring harness.
Remove the faulty cartridge solenoid valve from the hydraulic block.
Perform this if the wiring is intact but the solenoid itself is internally shorted to ground.
Install the new replacement solenoid valve and torque to the manufacturer's minimum tightening specifications for normal assembly.
Reconnect the solenoid electrical connector.
Reconnect the negative battery cable.
Use a diagnostic tool (EST) or DTC eraser to clear the UCM 4372 fault code from the system memory, then test the machine's ground drive to ensure the fault does not return.
