UCM 5051

New Holland UCM 5051 – UCM: Loader Pilot Interlock Valve (On/Off) - Solenoid Supply Open Circuit

Issue description

The Universal Control Module (UCM) has sensed an open circuit in the solenoid supply for the loader pilot interlock valve. The fault becomes active when the engine is ON and the UCM pin detects the open circuit, completely disabling the loader hydraulics for safety.

Applies to these machines

  • L213
  • L215
  • L218
  • L220
  • L223
  • L225
  • L228
  • L230
  • C-Series track loaders

Check the cause

  1. Verify that code 5051 is currently active using the Electronic Service Tool or instrument cluster.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors from the UCM to the Loader Pilot Interlock Valve solenoid for corrosion, abrasion, or physical damage.

  3. Measure the resistance of the Release Solenoid Valve Pilot System coil (should be approximately 9 Ohms). Infinite resistance (OL) indicates an internal open circuit.

Repair steps

  1. Repair Wiring

If the visual inspection reveals a broken wire, rubbed-through insulation, or a corroded connector pin between the UCM and the solenoid, repair or replace the affected harness section. Clear the code and retest.

  2. Replace the Solenoid

If the wiring is intact but the solenoid fails the resistance test (reads open), replace the Loader Pilot Interlock Valve Solenoid.

  3. UCM Verification

If both the wiring harness and the solenoid test perfectly fine, temporarily swap in a known-good UCM and retest to confirm if the fault is eliminated before condemning the module.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Loader Pilot Interlock Valve Solenoid / Hydraulic Enable Solenoid

    84151310

Replaces older part numbers 86575596, 86507510, and 87030707. May require adapter harness 87048133 for older skid steer loader wire harnesses.

  • Adapter harness

    87048133

Required if the machine's harness connector has one male and one female terminal.
