   Inspect the wiring harness running from the UCM to the main hydraulic control valve for chafed insulation, pinched wires, or areas rubbing against the chassis.

   Disconnect the Hydraulics Enable Solenoid connector and the UCM connector to inspect for water intrusion, bent pins, or corrosion.

   Perform a harness short-to-ground test: with the battery disconnected and both ends of the circuit unplugged, use a multimeter to measure continuity between the solenoid supply wire and the chassis ground.

   Test the solenoid coil: measure the resistance across the pins of the Hydraulics Enable Solenoid and check for continuity between the solenoid power pin and the solenoid housing (ground) to check for an internal short.

   Preparation

   Park the machine on a level surface, lower the boom completely (if possible), turn off the engine, and disconnect the negative battery cable.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Access the main hydraulic control valve block (typically located under the cab, which may need to be tilted forward for access). Locate the Hydraulics Enable Solenoid.

   Harness Repair

   If the diagnostic tests revealed a short in the wiring harness, trace the wire back from the solenoid to the UCM. Splice and solder a repair wire, sealing it with heat-shrink tubing, or replace the affected harness section.

   Solenoid Replacement

   Clean the area around the solenoid to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system. Disconnect the electrical connector. Unscrew the retaining nut holding the solenoid coil to the valve stem, or unscrew the entire cartridge valve if it is a single-piece unit. Install the new solenoid/cartridge, ensuring the O-rings are lubricated with clean hydraulic oil. Tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque.

   Reassembly and Testing

   Reconnect the electrical connector and the battery. Turn the key to the ON position and clear the fault codes via the instrument cluster. Start the machine and verify that the hydraulic functions are enabled and operate smoothly.
