New Holland UCM 5137 – UCM: Bucket Rollback / Dump: In-Range Fault
Issue description
The control module is receiving a signal from the right joystick's right-left axis (which controls the bucket rollback and dump functions) that is within the normal electrical operating range, but the signal is implausible. This typically triggers when the dual internal sensors disagree with each other, or if the joystick fails to return to its exact spring-centered neutral position.

Check the cause
Verify the code using the Electronic Service Tool (EST) or the instrument cluster display to confirm UCM 5137 is active.
Check the right joystick for physical binding, packed dirt, or debris at the base that might be preventing the handle from returning perfectly to the spring-centered neutral position.
Inspect the wiring harness and the connector at the base of the right joystick for corrosion, loose pins, or chafing along the harness routing to the UCM.
Monitor the live voltage/percentage data for the Right Joystick R-L axis using the EST. The dual sensors should track together proportionally; if values conflict while stationary or moving, the internal sensors have failed.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the machine, remove the key, and disconnect the battery (or turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position) to prevent electrical shorts.
Access the Joystick
Remove the right-hand control console covers/trim to expose the base of the right joystick.
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical harness connector from the right joystick base.
Replace or Repair
If the wiring harness was found to be damaged during diagnostics, repair the broken wires or replace the harness section. If the joystick sensors failed (the sensors are integrated into the base and are non-serviceable), unbolt the right joystick assembly from the console and install a new EH joystick assembly.
Reassembly
Bolt the new joystick into place, reconnect the electrical harness, and reinstall the console covers.
Restore Power
Reconnect the battery.
Clear Codes & Calibrate
Turn the key ON. Use the EST or the advanced instrument cluster menu to clear the inactive UCM 5137 fault code. Perform an EH joystick calibration procedure if required by the UCM software.
Test
Start the machine and test the bucket rollback and dump functions to ensure smooth operation and verify the code does not return.
Parts you might need
(1)Right Joystick Assembly (Electro-Hydraulic Control)
47778097Replaces older part numbers: 84249066, 47548974, 47416528. Part numbers for EH joysticks can vary heavily depending on the exact machine generation (Tier 4A vs Tier 4B/Final), cab options, and whether the machine has standard or high-flow auxiliary hydraulics. The dealer must verify the exact joystick part number against the machine's Product Identification Number (PIN).
