UCM 5323

New Holland UCM 5323 – UCM: Enhanced High-Flow Auxiliary Option: EHF Fwd/Rev Switch Short to Power

Issue description

The system has detected an abnormally high voltage on the circuit for the Enhanced High-Flow (EHF) Forward/Reverse switch, indicating that the signal wire is shorted directly to a power source.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the EHF Fwd/Rev switch (proportional rocker switch on the right-hand control joystick) for physical damage or sticking.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness running from the joystick down to the UCM for chafed insulation, pinched wires, or exposed copper bridging the signal wire to a 12V power wire.

  3. Disconnect the switch at the control handle and inspect the connector pins for moisture, dirt, or bent pins.

  4. With the switch disconnected and the key ON, test the harness-side signal wire for voltage. Voltage indicates a harness short; no voltage indicates an internal switch short.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the machine and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical damage during repair.

  2. Access the Switch

Disassemble the control handle/joystick grip housing to access the EHF Fwd/Rev rocker switch.

  3. Isolate the Fault

Disconnect the switch from the harness. If your prior multimeter testing indicated a harness issue, trace the wiring back to the UCM, locate the shorted section, and repair or replace the damaged wiring.

  4. Replace the Switch

If the harness tested good, the switch is internally shorted. Remove the faulty switch from the handle assembly and install the new OEM replacement switch.

  5. Reassemble

Reconnect the switch to the harness and reassemble the joystick grip.

  6. Test and Clear

Reconnect the battery. Turn the key ON, use a diagnostic tool (or DTC Eraser) to clear the UCM 5323 fault code, and test the Enhanced High-Flow auxiliary hydraulics to ensure forward and reverse functions operate correctly without throwing the code.
