New Holland UCM 5372 – UCM (Universal Control Module): Enhanced High-Flow Auxiliary Option: Forward Solenoid (A) Supply Short to Ground
Issue description
The control module has detected that the voltage supply circuit for the Forward (A) Proportional Relief Valve (PRV) solenoid on the Enhanced High-Flow (EHF) hydraulic pump is shorted directly to ground, preventing the solenoid from actuating and disabling the forward high-flow auxiliary hydraulic function.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness from the UCM to the EHF Forward Solenoid (A) for pinched wires, chafing against the frame, or melted insulation.
Disconnect the 2-pin Deutsch DT solenoid connector and inspect pins for corrosion, moisture ingress, or damage.
With the connector unplugged, use a multimeter to check for continuity between the supply wire (Pin A) and the machine frame to test for a shorted harness.
Measure the resistance across the solenoid coil itself. Near zero resistance or continuity to the outer metal casing indicates an internal short.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the machine and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.
Access the Valve Block
Locate the EHF Pump Control PRV block (usually mounted near the hydrostatic/hydraulic pump assembly) and identify the Forward Solenoid (A).
Harness Repair
If the diagnostic tests revealed a short in the wiring harness, cut out the damaged section of wire and splice in a new section using weather-sealed heat-shrink butt connectors, or replace the Deutsch DT connector pigtail if the short is at the plug.
Solenoid Replacement
If the solenoid is internally shorted, unplug the Deutsch DT connector, remove the retaining nut at the end of the solenoid valve stem, and slide the faulty solenoid coil off. Slide the new solenoid coil onto the stem and tighten the retaining nut to OEM torque specifications.
Reassembly and Testing
Reconnect the Deutsch connector and the battery. Start the machine, engage the operator restraint, activate the hydraulic enable switch, and test the EHF auxiliary hydraulics to ensure the fault code clears and the attachment functions properly.
