This chain is part of the drive system on a corn header. It transmits rotational force from the gearbox to the gathering chains and snapping rolls that pull the stalk through the header. A worn or stretched chain causes slip, uneven crop intake, and can throw the timing between the left and right sides of the row unit. The original chain matches the pitch and roller width of the factory sprockets, so the engagement depth and tension remain within the header’s adjustment range. On installation, check the sprocket teeth for wear and set the tension to the service manual specification.
