A worn hub bearing produces audible rumble and radial play at the wheel, which accelerates tire wear and can damage the axle spindle. The hub is machined to match the original seal and bearing bores, so the bearing preload and seal alignment are maintained without shimming. On reinstallation, clean the mating face and apply anti-seize to the hub pilot to prevent galvanic corrosion.
