This screw secures the injector to its mounting bore in the engine cylinder head. It holds the injector body at the correct seating depth and orientation so the fuel spray pattern aligns with the combustion chamber. A loose or undertorqued screw allows injector movement, which can cause combustion knock, uneven fuel delivery, and eventual damage to the injector tip or the cylinder-head bore. Reinstall the screw to the manufacturer’s torque specification and replace any sealing washer or copper gasket that was removed.
