This engine oil filter removes particulate and contaminants from the engine lubrication circuit before oil reaches the main bearing journals and turbocharger supply. It mounts to the filter head on the engine block and uses a full-flow filtration path; unfiltered oil enters the outer annulus, passes through the filter media, and exits through the central threaded port. A clogged filter restricts oil flow, causing the bypass valve to open and send unfiltered oil through the engine, which accelerates wear on bearings and piston rings. The filter is an original component from the engine manufacturer, with a thread and seal-face geometry that matches the filter head bore exactly, ensuring the bypass valve seats correctly and no leakage occurs at the sealing interface. On reinstallation, lightly oil the seal gasket and tighten the filter to the torque specified for the housing.
