This crankshaft oil seal prevents engine oil from leaking past the rotating crankshaft at the front or rear of the block. It sits in a machined bore in the engine housing, with its sealing lip riding directly on the shaft surface. A worn or hardened seal allows oil to weep onto the flywheel or pulley, which can lead to clutch contamination or belt slippage. The seal is manufactured by Corteco to match the original housing bore and shaft contact geometry, so the interference fit and lip pressure are correct for the application. On installation, ensure the seal bore is clean and free of burrs, and apply a thin film of oil to the sealing lip before pressing the seal into place.
