Corteco - 12017026B - Differential Mechanism Seal Ring

This differential seal ring sits at the output of the differential carrier, retaining lubricating oil inside the housing while excluding dirt and moisture from the axle environment. It seals the rotating shaft against the stationary housing bore, maintaining the oil film that the differential bearings and gear mesh require for consistent lubrication. A worn seal allows oil to weep past the lip, which can lead to a gradual loss of lubricant and eventual bearing or gear damage if not addressed. Corteco manufactures this seal to match the original lip geometry and spring tension, so it seats correctly in the housing bore without additional shimming or modification. On installation, clean the shaft contact surface and apply a light coating of oil to the seal lip before pressing it into the bore.
