This oil seal sits on the front axle of the host tractor, retaining lubricant inside the hub while excluding dirt and moisture from the bearing cavity. It is installed at the wheel-end interface where the rotating shaft passes through the stationary housing. A worn or hardened seal allows grease or oil to weep past the lip, which can lead to bearing contamination and eventual spindle damage. The seal is manufactured by Corteco to match the original housing bore and shaft diameter, preserving the interference fit that keeps the lip in contact with the running surface. On reinstall, inspect the seal bore for burrs or corrosion and apply a light lubricant to the seal lip before pressing it into place.
