This water pump circulates coolant through the engine block and radiator to maintain operating temperature. It is driven by the engine's accessory belt and mounts directly to the front of the cylinder block. The pump impeller moves coolant from the radiator into the water jacket, then returns it to the radiator for heat exchange. A failing pump typically produces a coolant leak from the weep hole or a bearing noise that progresses to shaft wobble. The included gasket seals the pump-to-block interface; replace the gasket on reinstall and torque the mounting bolts to the engine manufacturer's specification.
