A worn or bent shaft introduces vibration that accelerates bearing and seal wear on the drum and the gearbox output. The shaft is machined to match the original spline and keyway geometry, allowing it to be installed without additional shimming or adapter bushings. On reinstallation, ensure the shaft is aligned with the drum hub and that all retaining fasteners are torqued to the manufacturer's specification.
