This shaft transmits rotational drive from the gearbox output to the threshing drum within the combine's threshing unit. It is the forward-mounted component in the shaker assembly, coupling the drive system to the drum so that the rasp bars or beaters rotate at the required speed for grain separation. A worn or bent shaft introduces vibration that accelerates bearing and seal wear on the drum and the gearbox output. The shaft is machined to match the original spline and keyway geometry, allowing it to be installed without additional shimming or adapter bushings. On reinstallation, ensure the shaft is aligned with the drum hub and that all retaining fasteners are torqued to the manufacturer's specification.
