This knife hold-down secures the cutterbar knife section against the ledger plate during reciprocating motion. It is mounted along the cutterbar at intervals to maintain consistent cutting clearance between the knife and the stationary shearing surface. A worn hold-down allows the knife to lift, resulting in ragged stubble, increased draft load, and accelerated wear on the knife sections and ledger plates. The part is formed to match the original profile of the cutterbar assembly so that the clamping force is evenly distributed across the knife back.
