This flexible coupling transmits torque from the engine to the power take-off drive shaft on the parent combine. It sits between the engine output and the gearbox input, absorbing torsional vibration and compensating for minor misalignment between the two shafts. The rubber element bonded between the metal hubs allows controlled flex during engagement and load changes. A degraded coupling produces driveline shudder or a knocking sound under load, and if the rubber separates completely, the PTO drive stops entirely. The original-spec rubber compound matches the stiffness required to prevent resonance in the driveline at operating RPM. When replacing, clean the mating flanges and tighten the retaining bolts to the specified torque.
