As the element loads, intake restriction rises; a clogged filter reduces engine power and increases fuel consumption. The manufacturer constructs this element to the same pleat geometry and media density as the original assembly, ensuring the housing seals correctly and the restriction indicator reads accurately. When replacing, clean the housing interior and verify the gasket seats fully before closing the cover.
