This bearing assembly supports a rotating shaft within the threshing mechanism or straw chopper of a self-propelled forage harvester. It is a housed unit with a flanged mounting face that bolts to the machine frame, positioning the shaft relative to the surrounding housing. The bearing reduces friction between the rotating shaft and its stationary support, maintaining alignment under the loads generated during crop processing. A worn bearing produces play in the shaft, which can lead to misalignment of the chopper knives or threshing elements and increased vibration. The manufacturer machines the bearing raceways to the same internal clearance as the original assembly, so no shimming or adapter modifications are needed during replacement.
