Excellent mid-range chainsaw. Very good for work in small and medium-sized wood resources. Economical, ergonomic with minimal vibration tendency. The new STIHL MS 261 model is the successor to the legendary MS 260 chainsaw (one of the best-selling chainsaws in the world), perfect for all tasks, i.e. thinning, stand tending, timber harvesting, wood cutting, and trimming wood on construction sites. The decompression valve allows part of the compressed mixture to be removed from the cylinder during starting. This significantly reduces the force needed to pull the starter rope, relieving the operator and protecting the entire starting system of the device. Long-life air filter system The long-life air filter system significantly extends operating periods between filter cleanings. Larger and heavier particles are thrown outward by centrifugal force, and then additionally thrown upward by a rising ramp. Pre-cleaned air is directed to the air filter. STIHL 2-MIX engine The STIHL 2-MIX two-stroke engine provides high power while saving up to 20% fuel compared to STIHL two-stroke engines of similar power without 2-MIX technology. Exhaust emissions drop by approx. 50%. Captive nut When changing the cutting set, a practical captive nut is used on the sprocket cover. This ensures better fuel combustion and significantly increases engine efficiency. Result: lower fuel consumption and high torque across a wide speed range. Anti-vibration system Strong vibrations transmitted through the handles of mechanical devices can lead to vibration disease. For this reason, STIHL developed the anti-vibration system. In mechanical devices equipped with the AV system, the handle zones significantly reduce the number of vibrations generated by the combustion engine and the working tool. Multi-function switch All important chainsaw functions, such as cold and warm starting, operation, and switching off, are controlled with a single lever. This solution provides exceptional comfort and operating safety because the right hand remains on the handle at all times. Filter cleaning becomes necessary only when engine power noticeably drops. The STIHL compensator located in the carburetor ensures that despite increasing air filter contamination, engine power, harmful exhaust content, and fuel consumption remain constant for an extended period. This allows longer operation without the need for maintenance. Side chain tensioner The tensioning screw is turned with a special knob passing through the chainsaw sprocket cover. This avoids hand contact with the sharp saw chain and bumper spikes. STIHL Ematic System The STIHL Ematic system consists of an Ematic guide bar, Oilomatic saw chain, and an adjustable oil pump with reduced oil delivery. The special design of the guide bar and saw chain ensures that every drop of oil reaches exactly the points on the saw chain where it is most needed. This allows lubrication oil consumption for the saw chain to be reduced by up to 50%. STIHL ElastoStart Compression pressure during starting of combustion engines causes kickback that strains the operator's muscles and joints. A damping element located in the special starter handle absorbs and transmits the occurring forces according to the compression cycle, enabling smooth, jerk-free starting of the device. Carburetor preheating system STIHL chainsaws equipped with a carburetor preheating system are reliable even when it is cold outside: in winter operating mode, heated air flows around the carburetor. This solution effectively prevents carburetor icing. Practical tank cap Special, patented fuel and oil tank caps. Tanks of mechanical devices equipped with such caps can be quickly opened and closed - without force or any tools. The new HD2 filter is made of polyethylene and has pores up to 70% finer compared to fleece or polyamide filters, which in practice means filtering the finest contaminant particles. The new filter is also waterproof, does not absorb oil, and can be easily cleaned. The round filter cartridge can be removed without tools.
