This gearbox O-ring seals the joint between two mating housing halves, preventing lubricant leakage and keeping contaminants out of the drivetrain. It sits in a machined groove on the gearbox casing, where it compresses to form a static seal under normal operating pressure. A hardened or cracked O-ring allows oil to weep past the joint, leading to low lubricant levels and accelerated gear wear. This component is manufactured by AGCO to match the original groove geometry and cross-section, so the seal compresses to the correct height without over-stressing the gland. On reinstallation, clean the groove thoroughly and verify the O-ring is not twisted before closing the housing.
