This exhaust system gasket seals the joint between the exhaust manifold and the downpipe or turbocharger outlet on the host tractor. It prevents leakage of hot exhaust gases, which would reduce backpressure and cause a loss of engine braking efficiency and turbocharger response. The gasket is compressed between the flanges during installation; a failed gasket produces a ticking sound under load and may leave soot traces around the joint. As an original-manufacturer component, the gasket matches the flange face geometry and crush characteristics of the original assembly, so no additional sealant is needed. Replace the gasket whenever the exhaust connection is disturbed, and tighten the flange fasteners to the specified torque.
