This torsional vibration damper is installed in the clutch assembly of the host tractor. Its function is to absorb and dampen rotational oscillations from the engine before they reach the transmission input shaft. By smoothing out these torsional spikes, the damper protects the downstream gearbox components from shock loading and reduces driveline noise. A failed damper allows excessive vibration to pass through, which can cause gear rattle and premature wear on the clutch disc and transmission bearings.
