This engine fuel filter removes particulate and water from the diesel supply before the fuel reaches the high-pressure injection pump. It mounts in the fuel line between the lift pump and the injection system, where it protects the injectors and pump internals from abrasive contamination. A restricted filter reduces fuel flow, causing power loss and hard starting; if the element is not replaced on schedule, debris can bypass the media and score the pump plungers. The manufacturer machines the sealing surfaces to match the original filter head, so the gasket seats correctly and the drain valve operates without leakage. On replacement, drain the water separator bowl and prime the system before restarting.
