This engine oil filter captures particulate and sludge from the lubricating oil before it circulates through the engine bearings, turbocharger, and valve train. It mounts to the filter housing on the engine block; unfiltered oil enters through the outer annulus and passes through the filter media to the center tube, which delivers clean oil to the main gallery. A clogged filter forces the bypass valve open, allowing unfiltered oil to bypass the media and accelerate bearing wear. As an original-manufacturer component, the filter body and gasket face are machined to the same interface dimensions as the housing, ensuring the bypass valve seats correctly and the seal does not leak under cold-start pressure. Replace the filter at the interval specified in the engine maintenance schedule.
