This transmission hydraulic oil filter removes particulate from the oil circulating between the gearbox and the hydraulic system. It is installed in the filter housing on the return side of the loop, protecting downstream components such as the pump and control valves from contamination. A clogged filter element forces the bypass valve open, allowing unfiltered oil to circulate, which can lead to accelerated wear in the transmission and hydraulic circuits. The manufacturer machines the filter element to match the housing's seal geometry, ensuring proper bypass-valve seating and consistent filtration pressure. When replacing, clean the housing bore and replace the seal ring before torquing the cap to specification.
