This metal-rubber bushing isolates the header drive shaft from the frame, absorbing vibration and allowing controlled angular movement between the two components. It sits at the pivot point where the header attaches to the feeder housing, reducing metal-to-metal wear and preventing fretting corrosion at the connection. A worn bushing produces play in the header linkage, which leads to misalignment of the drive chain and accelerated sprocket wear. The bonded rubber layer is vulcanized to the metal sleeve during manufacture, so the assembly cannot be field-repaired; replacement is the only corrective action.
