This knife is the undercutter blade for the corn header assembly. It mounts on the row unit to sever the stalk at the base before the gathering chains feed the plant into the snapping rolls. The blade’s cutting edge wears against soil and residue; a dull or chipped edge leaves ragged stalk ends that can plug the intake and reduce throughput. The manufacturer machines the blade to match the original mounting-hole spacing and thickness, so it seats flush against the support bracket without shimming. When replacing, inspect the mounting bolts for stretch and torque them to the specification for the header.
