This engine fuel filter removes particulate and water from the fuel stream before it reaches the injection pump. It is installed in the fuel line between the tank and the high-pressure pump, where it protects the injectors and pump internals from abrasive contamination. A restricted filter causes a pressure drop that leads to hard starting, misfiring, or loss of power under load. The filter element is constructed to match the original housing dimensions, ensuring the seal seats correctly and the bypass valve opens at the proper pressure differential. On replacement, drain any water from the housing bowl and prime the system before starting.
