This oil seal sits in the joint housing of the front axle, retaining lubricant and excluding contaminants at the articulation point. It seals the rotating shaft where the axle pivots, preventing grease loss and ingress of dirt or water that would accelerate bearing and bushing wear. A leaking seal at this location causes visible grease weepage and, over time, leads to joint looseness and steering-geometry drift. Corteco manufactures this seal to match the original housing bore and shaft diameter, so the interference fit and lip contact pattern are preserved without modification. On installation, ensure the seal lip faces the lubricant side and that the housing bore is free of burrs or old seal debris.
