This steering pin connects the front-axle pivot joint to the chassis, allowing the axle to articulate as the tractor turns. It acts as the hinge point between the axle beam and the frame, transmitting steering forces from the drag link into the wheel assembly. Wear on the pin’s bearing surface produces play in the joint, leading to imprecise steering and uneven tire wear. As an original-manufacturer component, the pin is machined to the same clearance and surface finish as the bore it seats in, so no shimming or reaming is needed during replacement. On reinstallation, tighten the retaining hardware to the specified torque and check that the joint moves freely through its full range.
