This V-belt drives the blower fan that supplies the cleaning-air stream in the parent combine. It transmits torque from the engine-driven pulley to the blower shaft, maintaining the air velocity needed to separate chaff from grain across the sieves. A slipping or worn belt reduces fan speed, which leads to incomplete cleaning and increased grain loss over the sieves. The belt is constructed with a single rib and aramid tensile cords to resist stretch under the cyclic loads of harvesting. On installation, verify the tensioner arm moves freely and adjust deflection to the specification for the drive layout.
