This bearing supports the feeder-house drum shaft that transfers crop material from the header into the threshing mechanism. It is a sealed, greased-for-life ball bearing designed for the high radial and moderate axial loads present at the drum pivot points. The double-lip contact seal on both sides prevents ingress of dust, chaff, and moisture, which are the primary causes of raceway pitting and premature failure. A worn bearing produces a growling noise during operation and allows shaft deflection that misaligns the feeder chain.
