This bevel gear transfers rotary motion from the grain-unloading auger drive to the vertical discharge auger inside the grain tank. It changes the direction of torque by 90 degrees, allowing the horizontal cross auger to feed grain upward into the unloading tube. The 16-tooth gear meshes with a mating pinion; wear on the tooth flanks produces backlash that causes intermittent auger stall or a grinding noise during unloading. As an original-specification component, the gear is cut to match the housing’s center distance and shaft spline geometry, so no shimming or modification is required during replacement. On installation, verify the gear rotates freely in the housing before securing the retaining hardware.
